CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of more than a hundred cannabinoids that naturally occur in hemp plants. CBD is a 100% natural, biological product which is produced without the use of pesticides. Another well-known cannabinoid is THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) which causes the psychoactive effect, it’s the cannabinoid that gets you “high” and which in Europe is illegal; in most countries when present in a quantity higher than 0,05%. Hemp plants naturally contain a very high percentage of CBD, around 15-18%, and a very small percentage of THC, around 2 to 3%. By means of a soft extraction process, CO2, the CBD is extracted from the hemp biomass and the THC is removed. CBD is legal as long as it doesn’t contain more than 0,05% THC, it does not provide a psychoactive effect and it is not addictive.
